Alyssa Thompson Named Player of the Match in Chelsea's Win

Alyssa Thompson capped Chelsea’s tour of New Zealand and Australia by being voted Player of the Match in the 3-0 win in Sydney, edging an incredibly tight poll on the Chelsea Official App.

The USA international was electric throughout, driving at defenders and repeatedly stretching the Sydney back line. Her influence told on the scoresheet too, as she played a key role in Chelsea’s first two goals, finished clinically by Sandy Baltimore and Sjoeke Nusken.

The vote reflected just how many attacking stars shone on the night. Thompson collected 29 per cent, but Baltimore pushed her all the way with 27 per cent after her opener, while Lexi Potter – who struck Chelsea’s third – claimed 23 per cent.
