Al-Qadisiyah Optimism: Tijjani Reijnders Joins as Aramco Stadium Nears Completion

Al-Qadisiyah fans woke up to a jolt of optimism on Wednesday, and it came from two directions at once.

First, the headline name: Dutch midfielder Tijjani Reijnders, signed from Manchester City, a statement arrival for a club about to step onto the continental stage. Then came the second wave of good news, this time from the concrete and steel that will frame their new era.

Aramco Stadium nears the finish line

Saudi newspaper Al-Riyadiyah reported that Aramco Stadium, the club’s new home, is close to completion and nearly ready to host matches. The playing surface has already gone in, transported and installed with the latest specialised technologies used in building top-tier sports venues around the world.

In simple terms: the pitch is ready for football.

Aramco Stadium will hold around 47,000 spectators across all categories, a serious arena for a club with growing ambitions. Inside, advanced hospitality facilities and digital services are designed to smooth the matchday experience, from entry to exit.

Fifteen internal gates feed into the stands, supported by smart crowd management systems and modern solutions aimed at organising fan movement and cutting congestion before and after events. The club wants noise in the stands, not chaos at the turnstiles.

European ideas, Gulf conditions

Al-Riyadiyah also highlighted several technologies borrowed from leading European stadiums. The pitch includes a rainwater drainage system that draws off excess water quickly, speeds up drying and limits disruption during games.

Then there is the question of heat. Ventilation at Aramco Stadium links directly to a powerful air-conditioning system with a cooling capacity of 22,500 tonnes, designed to reach every corner of the arena. During the design phase, engineers used advanced simulation tools to calibrate airflow precisely, chasing maximum comfort and efficiency even when the climate outside turns harsh.

This is not just a bowl of seats and a patch of grass; it is a controlled environment built to keep the football fast and the fans comfortable.

Built for a new stage

All of this feeds into a clear objective. Al-Qadisiyah want every possible condition optimised as they prepare for their first-ever appearance in the AFC Champions League Elite. A major signing in Reijnders and a near-complete, high-spec stadium send the same message.

The club is not just arriving in Asia’s elite competition to make up the numbers.
