Adam Jackson Leaves Lincoln City After Six Years

Adam Jackson’s six-year spell at Lincoln City has come to an understated but respectful end, with the defender leaving the club by mutual consent yet remaining on the training pitch as he searches for a new home.

The 32-year-old, a mainstay across multiple managers and campaigns, was told earlier in the summer he would not be named in the Imps’ 25-man squad for this season. The message was clear: his time in the first team was over. A move away was expected before the transfer window closed. It never came.

So Jackson, on the books since 2018 and a veteran of 179 appearances in all competitions, now finds himself in a rare halfway house: no longer contracted to Lincoln, but still pulling on the training gear with the Championship side as he keeps sharp for his next opportunity.

His only outing this term came in the Carabao Cup, a late-August win at Blackpool that now stands as his final competitive appearance for the club.

Sporting director Jez George underlined the tone of the parting, insisting this is not a cold break but a considered step for a player who has given the club much of his career.

He said the decision to allow Jackson to continue training is rooted in Lincoln’s desire to support him “with what comes next in his career”, adding that it “shows the respect both parties have for each other”.

For Jackson, the search for a new club begins from a familiar place: the same training ground where he built his Lincoln career.
